Jan's CV

Jan is an experienced psychotherapist, supervisor and lecturer. He currently works in private practice as well as lecturing and supervising on a number of training courses. In addition he has been a registered member of both the United Kingdom Council of Psychotherapy and the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy since 2002.


Work History


Jan's professional background consists of three main areas of work:


1. Private Practice

Jan has been in private practice as a psychotherapist since 1998. He began working with professionals and corporate clients in Canary Wharf at this time, expanding to include a practice located in Bow in 2005, and in 2011 included a practice based in Walthamstow.


2. Public Sector Work

Jan has held the following positions within public sector healthcare organisations.


Adult Psychotherapist for North East London NHS Trust 2010-2012 Based at Goodmayes Hospital. Short to medium term therapy undertaken with clients referred from general practice, psychiatric settings and various depts within St Georges Hospital such as cardiology, antenatal dept etc.


Adult Psychotherapist at Newham Primary Care Trust. 2005-2008 Offering short to medium therapy to clients referred from general practice. Management of psychological services within a number of GP surgeries.


Counselling Assessor at Brent Mind. 2007-2009 Specialist assessment role. Assessing clients from general practice as well as recruiting and training a team of assessors.


Primary Care Counsellor at East Sussex NHS Trust. 2002-2004


Honorary Psychotherapist within North East Essex NHS Trust


3. Teaching
Visiting Lecturer at the School of Psychotherapy and Counselling Psychology. Currently teaching The Foundation Course in Psychotherapy and Counselling.


Visiting Lecturer and Clinical Supervisor at New School of Psychotherapy of Psychotherapy and Counselling. Currently supervising students clinical work as well as teaching a ten week course entitled Critical Psychopathology.


Core Tutor at Matrix Psychotherapy Currently teaching and supervising on Bsc in Integrative Psychotherapy, teaching courses entitled Shame and Rage and Phenomenological Psychotherapy.
